The flight to MSP was a very boring, standard flight. Our seven hour layover, however, was pretty interesting. We arrived in Minneapolis around 2pm. We found our gate-on the complete other side of the airport, then grabbed some food and hung out our gate.
About two hours into our layover, the fire alarm went off in the airport. No one moved, and we didn't see any smoke or fire. I'm guessing it was a false alarm, but at least it was mildly entertaining.
I decided to try to sleep for a little bit, but this unbelievably rude woman came over literally YELLING into her phone. For forty five minutes. She also sat across the aisle from us and yapped loudly the entire flight instead of sleeping like everyone else.
They overbooked our flight by about fifteen people. I had checked us in six hours early, so we already had our seat assignments. Lucky us!
Upon landing, EVERYONE but us immediately stood and started grabbing their bags from the overhead compartments, even though the flight attendant repeatedly asked everyone to remain seated. People are so self important, it's ridiculous. We, on the other hand, we the last ones off the plane. We still had to get our luggage, get through customs, and our hotel check-in time wasn't for another three hours. We were in no rush.
We got a little lost trying to find our hotel, but we ended up arriving at exactly 3pm. We checked in and went up to our room to change. It's a nice room, but there isn't air conditioning and London is in the middle of a heatwave....ugh.
We wandered around the city for awhile; everything on the map looks very close together, but I assure you, it's not. This is really disappointing, becase I don't think we'll be able to do EVERYTHING we wanted too. Places close around 6 or 7, so we don't have as much time to get to everything.
Tomorrow is the big sightseeing day. We're taking the Thames River Cruise, which takes is past iconic London landmarks like Big Ben and the Eye of London. I'll have plenty of pictures for you then!!
